Chevelle cannot cease to be amazing even if they tried. It seems their previous albums have always satisfied, having a few good hits per album. This new album of theirs seems more versatile, almost every track could be someone's chosen favorite, unlike a lot of artists where only a couple songs would contend for the public's affection over any other song. With the exception of "Interlewd", every song here on Sci-Fi Crimes has it's own personal feel, that can reach out to anybody. At first glance, I found "Jars" to be my favorite track. Then, the more I listened, the more I found myself struggling to be able to actually choose a favorite. I would say this is Chevelle's best album, only because of how different and versatile it is.

Each song feels like the band really put their emotion, feeling and power into it. The "feel" and lyrics of each track is beautiful, powerful, deep and really grows on you each time you listen. If someone asked me what my favorite track on this album is, I'd say it's a tie between half of the album: "Jars", "Sleep Apnea", "Shameful Metaphors", "A New Momentum", "Mexican Sun", and "Highlands Apparition". Highlands Apparition is actually the first acoustic track of Chevelle that I have heard, and really blew me away. It's slowly becoming one of my favorite tracks of Chevelle, even if it is different than from Chevelle's usual style.

If you're a fan of Chevelle, you won't be disappointed. If you're not, but looking to get into Chevelle, I'd recommend any album, but this album feels like it's the masterpiece of several years of hard work from one of America's greatest modern rock bands. I can honestly say, it wasn't until this album that I could proclaim that THIS is my favorite band.

What more can you ask from a band? Not since the Deftones has a band grown so much over the years. Every album is a progression in music, not only in the talent of the musicians, but in the sound they develop. I highly suggest this disc to anyone who has ever tapped thier foot to a Chevelle song. it is amazing from start to finish.

It's all been downhill since Chevelle's 2002 breakthrough release 'Wonder What's Next'. Each album has been considerably weaker than the last and 2009's 'Sci-Fi Crimes' is no exception. It's not that they have changed their sound. It's simply a situation of poor songwriting. "Shameful Metaphors" and "Roswell's Spell" both manage to sneak through as a pretty good songs, but that's about it. The rest just bores. The album isn't terrible, but don't expect to have fun listening to it.

Ok, so I have to say that this album is good in some parts but sorely lacking in others. The first couple of tracks are the best, with Sleep Apnea, Shameful Metaphors, Jars, and the acoustic Highland's Apparition being the best tracks. The rest are so-so... Although not comparable to Wonder What's Next and This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In, any Chevelle fan should own this.

Okay these guys have not lost any momentum over the years and in fact have stayed true to themselves while evolving musically. This album is excellent!! It took about a week for the songs to catch and grow on me, but after getting hooked, I am completely thrilled with almost every song. I guess the ones I am not quite 100% happy with include "Roswell's Spell" and "A New Momentum." Personal favorites include the first four songs, "Sleep Apnea" "Mexican Sun" "Shameful Metaphors" and "Jars." The quiet power of "Highland's Apparition" - an acoustic tune apparently about seeing a ghost - sends chills through me with each listening. Overall, Pete's song writing is again breath-takingly intelligent and artistic, able to convey messages that each person can interpret as they choose. As a HUGE Chevelle fan, this album brought me no disappointments whatsoever. The album oozes talent and emotion, and any modern rock lover who wishes to break out of the norm will enjoy this CD. In fact, with Sci-Fi Crimes, Chevelle has proven once again why they are so successful and loved by devoted fans. If you give it a chance, the risk will pay off. Buy it and see for yourself....
