I’m a big proponent of what if stories. When I read Patricia Cornwell’s book, “Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper – Case Closed,” I was partially convinced. In my mind, I built a Walter Sickert who could and would have been the ripper, and worked out details. I even purchased a bullseye lantern from the 1800s to test the light. When I saw the dark figure in the shadow of Sickert’s painting, “Ennui,” a tale was born.
