the levers are really only for lifting up the hollow, weightless plastics "rocks" that come with it. If you want to do any REAL digging (and who doesn't?), you have to go manual. A huge disappointment for my poor 3 yo who had visions of completely digging up my garden.

It's all plastic, and I'll be interested to see how long it really lasts. It would be okay if it was just going to be an inside toy, but what's the point of having construction equipment if you can't play with it in the dirt?

And the noise. It's REALLY loud. My advice is to spend your money on something sturdier that doesn't have all the lights and sounds and mechanical actions.

My 6 year old boy saved up his money and ordered this excavator (with my help on the ordering part). I really thought that 18 inches would make it slightly larger than a barbie doll. Boy was he thrilled when it came in a great big ol' box. When he opened it, it got even better. He has had many hours of fun with this thing, loading and unloading stuff.

It was a great buy!
