Jennifer Beals, long after her '80s success in "Flashdance" and before breaking out into "The L Word", starred in "Out of Line" as a parole officer who falls in love with an ex-con named Henri. She's smitten with him, despite the fact he's still entangled with his ol' gang&he even knocks her out (literally)
The plot is needlessly complicated. There's a socialite with a hit on her,an evil gazillionaire,a Hispanic gangsta named Alfonso James who's somehow involved in the whole mess...even the Cigarette-Smoking Man from the X-Files. The truth is out there, indeed. There are plenty of sexual&violent scenes to compensate for the lack of a coherent plot. Of course, it lacks eroticism and the violence is gratuitous.
It's no wonder that Jennifer Beals has since danced away from this flash-in-the-pan movie. The whole movie is out of line... because it's plot makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER.
