My 4 year old niece came to stay for the week and we spent the better part of the afternoon reading this book. It's basically a simpler Cinderella with some fun penguin references (e.g. glass flipper, instead of slipper). I wish I'd gotten it in hardcover.

Once cinderella's stepsisters got a invitation to go to the ball. That night when cinderella went to the ball she was asked to dance with the prince. Right before midnight she runs out of the place and drops her flipper. When the prince comes to cinderella's house it fits on her foot!
A day later she gets married.
The them for cinderella Penguin is good vs,evil because, cinderella is good and her stepsisters are bad. The message is don't judge a book by it's cover because the were judging her how she looked. The genre is fairy tale because penguins don't were dress's. I
recommend this book for people who do not think they are beautiful because cinderella dose not think she is beautiful.
I like how the author did colorful picters.If you took the words out you could out you could read the story! Lots of the words are funny and some pictures are funny too. The author is very creative because she used penguins. I think her word choice is very good. Her imagination is awesome!!! This book is great for fun and just too read.

I bought this book for my little grand-daughter who is into everything penguin with the intensity that only a 6 year old can muster for her birthday. The fact that the storyline seemed a bit familiar didn't bother her very much; after all, we had already weathered the Chinese variant. Her concerns were entirely nerty ones. Penguins need food and don't have feet to wear glass slippers, all problems solved by author Perlman. Once all her concerns were answered (it's just a story, sweety-pie and these penguins eat party snacks and sandwiches; try to go with the flow of the story!) she made me read it all over again (she's doing her doctoral thesis on this story). You simply can't have too many Cinderella stories for little girls, even nerts or dorks.

I read the book Cinderella penguin by Janet Perlmen and this book is about a penguin named Cinderella. She has a stepmother and two stepsisters. There is a ball and Cinderella can't go because her stepsisters didn't give her anything nice to wear. I liked this book because it has penguins instead of humans. The vocabulary was good because it had the right amount of words on each page and it had details like the illustrations. I liked the message don't be mean because if your mean you won't have many friends. The theme was karma and that means what goes around comes around or what goes up must come down .The conflict of the story was person verses person because in the story Cinderella and her sisters want to marry prince charming by dressing nicely. I like the characters because they had magic in them and they were detailed and well thought out. I think the intended audience would be for children ages 8-9 because the story shows not to be mean or greedy. This book is great for children and would make a good book to read.
